Cream deodorant, my first thought was "what?" And I knew I had to try it.
I found a couple of recipes of cream deodorants on line, and since they were all different I made my own formula combining different recipes.
You'll need:
half a cup of corn starch
half a cup of baking soda
1/3 cup of coconut oil (solid)
25 drops of tea tree oil
20 drops of eucalyptus oil
20 drops of lavender oil
a glass jar or anything similar to store the cream in
I bought my coconut oil at an Asian market. It's sort of solid and came in a bottle. I hear you all thinking "how did you get it out of the bottle?" Place the bottle in a pan filled with hot (not boiling) water. You will see the coconut oil will start to melt very quickly. Mix the corn starch and baking soda and add the two to the liquid coconut oil. Mix together till you get a nice smooth and even texture. Then add the essential oils. I've chosen these essential oils for their anti bacterial properties and it just has a fresh smell to it. Poor your cream into a sterile glass jar and place it in the fridge.
I've tested the deodorant for a few days now, wore it to work, during exercise and when I was just hanging around. I find it's very effective. Of course this may very from one person to the next, but it's definitely worth a try! The smell of this deodorant isn't very strong, if you like a stronger smelling deodorant you can add more essential oils. Remember that the maximum usage of essential oils on the skin is about 0,5-0,8%.
To use just apply a hazelnut of cream under every arm, the solid cream will melt very quickly. Wait a minute and get dressed. The only downside to it is that it leaves a bit of a white powdery on your shirt (I think it's the baking soda) but if you're wearing something with a sleeve that shouldn't be a problem.
